With the weather cooling down, fall is the perfect time to spruce up your yard, patio, front porch, garden, outdoor fireplace, dining area or any outdoor entertainment space!
So today, I’ve got the perfect DIY project that is easy, simple and fast, but can transform your dining space and add a bohemian yet beautiful touch (depending on how you want to use it).
DIY Greenery Chandelier
Growing up I lived in the country. I’m talking 14-acres-no-neighbors-around country. So now since I live a more “city life,” I love to create whimsical, calm places that take me back to my childhood. I dreamed up this chandelier to use in our garden above our outdoor table so we can enjoy it dining as a family or entertaining. This piece is also a great piece to use for weddings, showers, or other events! And the best part? You can put it together in just over an hour!
Materials
1 1/4″ Zinc-Plated Punch Angle
Solar Powered Outdoor String Lights

Steps
Step 1. Measure out the size for your chandelier. My table is 36.5″ x 87.5″ long with the extender in it, so I measured mine out to be 4′ x 2.5′. Once you have that figured out, lay out your sheet metal corners and cut the gardening fencing to size.
Step 2. Cut the garden fencing to expose the ends of the wire. Use wire cutters for this.
Step 3. Loop the wire through the holes in the sheet metal corner. Loop it through the hole and bend it back on top of itself. Then, twist the wire around itself to hold it in place. Repeat this along both sides until the edge of the fence is connected to the sheet-metal corner.
To expose more of the greenery, be sure that there is enough slots for the greenery to fall through and drape down. If there are wires closing in the squares, cut those out to allow space for the greenery to be pulled through the fencing.
.
Step 4. Spray paint the entire thing dark green so it is camouflaged underneath the greenery.
Step 5. Tie jute rope to hang the metal frame from your pergola or structure. Be sure to double knot the ropes so it’s secure!
Step 6. Add in lights (optional). I used solar powered lights since I don’t have electricity where my chandelier hangs, but you can use whatever works best for your space. Use zip ties to attach the lights or just loop them over the fencing itself.
Step 7. Add your greenery. Start first by disguising the sheet metal corners by wrapping long greenery garland around the ends. After that’s done you can start filling it in as you would like. There really is no limit to how much you can add. The more you add the fuller it looks. You can use a variety of different plants. I used just greenery but you could also add flowers if you would like.
When adding the greenery, twist within the fencing. I didn’t need to secure mine, but if you feel like you need to use wire or small clear zip ties.
And that’s it! This piece is great to have up all fall until the frost and snow hits hard. Then, just untie the ropes and store inside until the spring.
I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do. Do you have other great ideas for where to put this? Comment below and share your creations with me!
